What does “multiple of 6 plus 3” mean?
The stitch pattern repeats every 6 stitches, and it needs 3 extra stitches to balance the edges. Any count of 6 × n + 3 works: 27, 33, 39 and so on.
If you want a wider or narrower piece, change the number of repeats rather than adding random stitches, or the pattern will not line up at the edge.
How do I pick between the lower and upper count?
Choose the lower count when the item must not exceed a size, such as a cushion cover. Choose the upper count when a little extra width is harmless, such as a blanket or scarf. The nearest count is highlighted as the default.
