Temperature Blanket Generator
A temperature blanket generator assigns a yarn colour to each temperature range and turns a list of daily temperatures into a row-by-row plan. Set your ranges and colours, paste the year’s highs, and it shows the colour for every day plus how many rows each colour needs for yarn buying.

How do I choose temperature ranges?
Look up your location’s record low and high, then divide that span into 8–12 bands. Ten-degree Fahrenheit or five-degree Celsius bands are common. Narrow bands give more colour changes and more yarn colours to buy.
The generator flags overlapping ranges and gaps, so every temperature lands in exactly one colour. Temperatures are rounded to the nearest whole degree before matching.
How much yarn does each colour need?
Work one test row, measure the yarn it used, then multiply by the rows per colour from the plan. Add a skein for colours that cover more than a month of typical weather.
Frequently asked questions
Should I use daily high or low temperatures?
Most makers use the daily high. Some work two rows per day, one high and one low.
Where can I get daily temperatures?
National weather services publish daily historical data. Paste the values separated by commas, spaces or new lines.
What stitch suits a temperature blanket?
Rows of half double crochet or moss stitch keep each day distinct and the blanket a manageable length.
