Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet
Corner-to-corner crochet, or C2C, builds a square or rectangle diagonally from one corner using small tiles of chains and double crochet. Rows grow by one tile until the widest diagonal, then decrease to the opposite corner. C2C is used for pixel-art blankets because each tile is one chart square.

How to get started with corner-to-corner (c2c) crochet
- Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch — first tile made.
- Turn; ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch.
- Sl st into the ch-3 space of the previous tile, ch 3, 3 dc in the same space — row 2 has 2 tiles.
- Continue adding one tile per row until the diagonal reaches the chart width.
- To decrease, sl st across the top of the first tile and skip adding a tile at that edge.
- Decrease on both edges once both width and height are reached.
How do you crochet C2C?
C2C crochet is made by stacking diagonal rows of tiles, each tile being a chain 3 space and three double crochets, adding a tile per row until the full width is reached.
Decrease rows mirror increase rows, closing the shape at the opposite corner.
How do you read a C2C graph?
A C2C graph is read diagonally, with each square representing one tile. Start at the bottom right corner and read each diagonal line in the direction of work.
A written row-by-row colour list is easier to follow than the chart for large blankets.
How much yarn does a C2C blanket need?
A C2C blanket needs yardage based on tile count; weigh a swatch of 10 by 10 tiles and multiply by the total tiles divided by 100.
Colour counts vary per chart, so calculate each colour separately.
