Chevron Afghan (1951): vintage crochet pattern
A one-piece ripple afghan in back-loop single crochet, mostly wood brown with narrow stripes of amber and beige. The side edges are finished with two rows of sc. Originally published as "Chevron Afghan" in Beautiful, Beautiful Afghans (Star Book No. 82) by American Thread Company in 1951, it is now in the public domain.

- Worsted (#4) yarn. American Thread "Dawn" Knitting Worsted was a worsted-weight yarn; substitute any worsted yarn that matches the gauge.

- Original hook: plastic crochet hook No. 5 or G.
- Hook: Start with 4 mm (US G-6) and change size to match the gauge.

- Row 2: Working in back loop of sts only, 1 sc in next st, sk 1 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 12 sts, *3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 13 sts, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 13 sts, repeat from * 10 times, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 12 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in last st, ch 1, turn.
